Mary was born in Bagwell, Texas, on January 4, 1936, to Daniel and Lorene Kenemore. Mary was the eldest of seven children and was known as "Sis" to the family.
Mary graduated from Deport High in May of 1954. Two years later on February 25, 1956, she was married to John Allen and together, they made their home in Arlington, Texas.
Mary worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone company where she had a career of 31 years until retiring on April 19, 1986. After retiring Mary worked part-time at a local Mothers-Day-Out where she cared for the infants and toddlers. It was actually more play than work for her.
Mary was a member of Grace Baptist Church, the Telephone Pioneers and the Communication Workers of America.
Mary loved her church and attended faithfully until becoming ill. She also had a love of gardening and every spring her home was lined with flowers and plants. She also loved cooking and feeding a crowd, the more she fed the more she enjoyed it. She also loved to make homemade candy during the holidays, which the family enjoyed receiving at Christmas.
Mary is survived by her son Johnny and wife Lynda Allen; granddaughter Amanda Rivera; great grandson Nathaniel Rivera; brother Jim and wife Lyn Kenemore of Spring; and brothers Bobby and Tommy Kenemore of Paris; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give our thanks and appreciation for the care that was given to Mary by Sundance Village and Freedom Hospice during her illness.
The Allen family will receive guests for a visitation on Monday, October 24, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas.
