Margaret "Peggy" Gates passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014. Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. Memorials: Contributions may be made to the Carmelite Nuns of South Arlington. Peggy was dearly loved by her family, many friends, and her church community. Born in Boston, Mass., on April 30, 1925, she grew up in Connecticut. She became a nurse and cadet nurse in World War II. She went with her Uncle Ray to Texas where she met future husband Douglas in Dallas in 1950. Having lived in Arlington since 1959, she had four children, Gary, Richard, Chris and Lisa. She was a den mother, a school nurse, and helped open Arlington Memorial Hospital. She loved square dancing, was a member of the African Violet Society, and was an active and long-term volunteer at Meals On Wheels, and the Arlington Visitors Center. She was preceded in death by her husband and her son, Gary. Survivors: Her sons, Richard (Daisy), and Chris; daughter, Lisa (Dave); and grandchildren, Jennifer, Matthew, Tyler, Austin and Victoria.
