She was born in Fort Worth, Texas to Cecil and Victoria Nelson on December 25, 1943. Her father was a Mason & her mother was an Eastern Star, so she was brought up as a Rainbow Girl. Linda went on to accomplish many great things and touched so many during her lifetime. After obtaining a Masters in Counseling from UNT, she found herself becoming a teacher and taught second grade to many students over her 28 year career. Linda even taught ESL for many years and always tried to learn about those that surrounded her. She would try to learn new languages and would always find time to have a conversation about someone’s heritage and culture. Linda loved to travel within the United States, Canada, Mexico, as well as overseas to Holy Land, Egypt, Italy & more. She enjoyed having deep conversations about the Lord’s Word and Politics.
Linda was known as a kind and loving person who ministered to those around her. She provided a safe haven to many of the children she cared for. For years, she was a member of South Park Baptist Church in Grand Prairie where she was involved in the choir, AWANAS and was a beloved member of the “Cane Gang” with other ladies from the church.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil Sr. and Victoria Nelson; her sisters Billie Smith, Ann Mills, her brother Cecil Clyde Jr. “Bubba”, her sister n law Doris Nelson, her niece Nancy Graham White, her husband, James Levick, Sr. and her Great Grandson, Jordan Austin Levick.
She is survived by her son, Michael David Levick, Sr. and wife, Tamela Michelle Levick; grandson, Michael David Levick, Jr.; adopted Son, Jason "Hawk" Bradley, Elsie Lucas; her nieces, Mary Ann Baker, Patricia Ruff, Susan Hargrave; Nephews, David Lucas, Mike Mills, & Bob Mills. On her husband’s side she was survived by Lanelle & Ben Matney, and their children and the many family members of the Levick Clan; as well as many other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at South Park Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. There will be no graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Linda’s memory to Animal Hope in Fort Worth, Texas.
