Lee was born in Springfield, Massachusetts to Larry & Ruth Ellershaw on December 2, 1937. He graduated Agawam High School in 1955. In 2005 he celebrated his 50th high school reunion and continued this tradition through 2018 in Agawam, Massachusetts.
After high school graduation Lee enlisted in the Army where he was stationed in Turkey. Upon his return to the United States, he was a member of the US Army Hockey Team and held the position as goal tender.
In June of 1963 after graduating from Springfield College he went to work for Pratt & Whitney and General Electric Aircraft division.
In 1974 he started a new adventure and relocated to Texas. He went to work for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in Arlington where he worked until his retirement in 2008.
Lee was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary for 25 years. He had a deep dedication for teaching and instructing others. He enjoyed boating, patrolling and anything outdoors.
Lee and his beloved wife enjoyed spending summers at their second home in Dennis Port, Massachusetts with family and friends. He was a devoted husband and father who loved his family fiercely and was a friend to all.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sharon Ellershaw, children, Tammie Ellershaw; Robin Ranjbar and husband Mark; Sherri Ellershaw; Traci Breitzman–Ellershaw and husband Jammie; Dan Longfellow; Dawn Compton and husband Brandon; sister, Marion Budreau; brother, Jack Bilman; 15 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to all staff members that provided excellent care at Baylor Scott and White All Saints Medical Center, Fort Worth, Texas.
A memorial service will be a later date.
