There will be a Visitation held from 9:00AM to 10:00 AM on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas.
Joy Dean McCord Terrell, 89, left this earthly home on July 22, 2024, in Fort Worth, TX. She was born on May 6, 1935, in Cass County, Texas, to Daisy Ruth and Dan John McCord. She graduated from Hooks High School in 1953. On June 25, 1955, she married her High School sweetheart Merle Terrell in Marietta, Texas. The couple settled in Arlington, TX where they welcomed their three children and raised their family.
Joy began a long career as an Administrative Assistant with the Arlington Independent School District, retiring after more than 24 years of dedicated service. Upon retirement, the couple moved to Burleson, TX to build their retirement home.
Joy was a very dedicated and devoted member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Rendon, TX.
Joy is preceded in death by her husband, Merle Terrell, and parents, Daisy and Dan J. McCord.
Joy Terrell is survived by her three sons, Joe and wife Gayle Terrell, Jeff and wife Trish Terrell, John and wife Irene Terrell; her grandchildren, Tracy (Jeff) Pitts, Shannon (Russell) Childress, Kimberly (Tyler) Casburn, Jason (Elizabeth) Terrell, Joshua (Sophia) Terrell, Amanda (Gustavo) Montenegro; thirteen Great-Grandchildren; sisters, Peggy Wise and Murle Sullivan, along with numerous family and friends.
Joy was a wonderful example for us all. She had a gentle spirit and nurturing heart that made this world a better place. She was a beautiful soul whose love and guidance will forever inspire and guide us.
The Graveside services will be at Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Texas Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas, Texas, or to your charity of choice.
