Joe Wayne Allen (February 3, 1929 – December 14, 2019) died after a brief illness in the home he shared with his only child Pamela and her husband Michael Mineo in Houston. Joe was born in Gustine, Texas to John C. Allen and Joda Jones Allen.
He served our country in the Korean War from November 1950 and then transferred to Army Reserve August 1952 where he served for another 4 years. Joe reached the rank of Sergeant First Class in the Army. He was a member of Company L in the 180th Regiment and became a squad leader. While serving in Korea with the 45th Infantry Division, Joe earned the Combat Infantryman Badge, which was a symbol of fighting on the front line.
He married Joy N. Taber June 6, 1953 and they moved to Ft Worth where they lived for 58 years until her death in 2011. He retired from Menasco Mfg as a computer programmer, at which time Joe and Joy had 10+ years of traveling the country in their RV.
Joe was well known for being a man of his word, hard worker, wonderful and dedicated husband and loving father. All who knew him admired and held him in high esteem.
