His formative years were spent as the middle son of three boys (brothers David and Jimmy) in a hard-working family located in the Riverside area of Fort Worth, Texas. It was during these years that he would develop his work ethic and foster his passion for woodworking; both of which he learned from his father. He graduated from Carter Riverside High School.
He served as a crew chief in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War era, earning the rank of sergeant. After his years in the service he went on to become a small business owner. His success in multiple markets-everything from a printing company, oil field services business, and carpet cleaning franchises-is a testament to his character and diligent work ethic.
Jerry was a kind and loving family man. He married Martha McDonald Babb on January 29, 1977; and raised three children: two daughters and a son. He set an example for them by consistently working tirelessly in his businesses as well as spending the time to teach and nurture them. He was a regular parishioner at St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Arlington, Texas for the majority of his adult life. After retirement, he attended Good Shepherd Episcopal church in Terrell, Texas. Jerry's love of wood-crafting began at an early age and continued throughout his life. He skillfully made wood products in his shop, to include wooden swings, stamp dispensers, pens, etc. In addition to his hobby with wood, Jerry also loved fishing...bass were his favorite!
Jerry is survived by Martha, his wife of 44 years; daughters: Susan Beaman and her husband Roger of Mansfield, Teresa Babb of Dallas, and son, Jason Babb of Dallas.
