She was born to Louis and Norma Mullican on October 25, 1936, in Dallas, TX. She was the oldest of 3, with a brother, Pat, 5 years younger, and a sister, Micki, 10 years younger. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Sunset High School. She attended Texas Women’s University where she found the love of her life, Richard. They married for 54 years until his passing in 2005. She became a mother in 1963 when Candy was born in September. She worked for Southern Union, Binswanger, phone companies in Charlotte, NC, and finally for Arlington I.S.D. for 17 years as a library assistant, special education assistant, and kindergarten assistant before retiring.
Janice loved reading, listening to music, traveling, watching Days of Our Lives, M.A.S.H. and the Dallas Cowboys, and hosting parties with family and friends.
She is survived by her sister, Micki Bowlin; her daughter, Candy Dolan; her nieces, Kim Walker and Ashley Garrett; her 3 grandchildren, Sydney Ortiz, Brittney Dolan, and John Dolan; and 2 great-grandchildren, Luke and Amelia Ortiz.
She was a wonderful daughter, cousin, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to each member of her family. Her love, loyalty, and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 from 2-4 p.m. at Moore Bowen Road Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to the American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, or a charity of your choice.
