Merritt Janice Anderson passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2020. She was 63. She will be missed by all her friends and family. Jan is survived by her husband, Zane Anderson, her two beloved sons, Josh and Jesse, Jesse's partner Jeremy Fretwell, her mother, Janice McAfee, a sister and brother-in-law, Mike and Jo Lynn Carney of Lewisville, a niece, Amy Brown of Gainesville, Texas, a brother-in-law, Shawn Anderson of Midland, Texas, a good friend, Natalie Anderson and her daughter Emily, and Emily's daughter, Madden. She left behind her beloved dog, Flipper.
Jan was born in Haskell, Texas on December 12, 1956. She graduated from Gregory Portland High School in 1975. Later, she attended The University of Texas in Austin from 1975-1978. She graduated from the University of Texas Permian Basin in 1979 with a degree in Finance. In addition, she earned a Paralegal Degree from the Denver Paralegal Institute in 1995. She also completed her Real Estate Broker's License.
She married her college sweetheart, Zane Anderson, on June 17, 1978. They enjoyed traveling to Europe six times. Her favorite cities in her travels were London and Barcelona. In the states, she enjoyed Savannah, Georgia and Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Jan loved shopping for purses, shoes, and jewelry. She saw the play, "Wicked", six times. She loved music, especially Leonard Cohen, Diana Krall, Lindsey Stirling, and Elvis Presley. Her favorite movies were "Hush, Hush Sweet Charlotte", "The Great Outdoors", "Vacation", "Christmas Vacation", "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", and "Sling Blade". Her favorite TV shows include "The X Files", "Justified", "Frasier", and "King of the Hill".
She always put other peoples' needs before her own. She had a heart as big as the state in which she lived.
Anyone who knew Jan loved her. She was funny and one of the friendliest people you could ever meet. She never met a stranger. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the services. A visitation will be held at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012 on Thursday evening, August 6, 2020 from 5 until 7 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the Chapel of Moore Funeral Home on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 2 PM. Interment to follow at Moore Memorial Gardens.
