Jim and I became friends at school and only lived a few streets apart in Kirkby,England.
I have pleasant memories of brewing beer with Jim and we kept it in his living room behind the sofa.
We produced labels for our brew ‘’HolmWhit’’ home brew.
In later life on one of Jim’s visits back to England, Dave and I had lunch with him and I arranged for the waiter to stick a ‘’HolmWhit’’ label on our wine bottle.
Rest in peace old friend, our thoughts are with Ann and family 

Have known Jim since secondary school in the late 1950's, On leaving school we both went into engineering apprenticeships, but would always meet up with other friends in the Carters Arms pub every Thursday night for a catch up and laugh. The love of his life at that time was his little brown mini car EOV254D with speed stripes, which he said made it go faster! Was an amiable chap, always good fun especially at an Everton game where he didn't hesitate to voice his opinion if the referee made a poor decision. Jim   will be sadly missed, but if heaven has football games then he'll be there.     RIP Jim

Jimmy was my mum and dad's friend, but I have great memories of going to visit the Whittakers when they lived in Oakville in Ontario when staying with my Uncle Ashy, who was good friends with Jimmy and Ann.

I also stayed with Jimmy and Ann in 1995 on my way home from Australia for a few weeks when Ann and I would watch the OJ trail and Friends whilst Jimmy was busy in the garage.

Jimmy was definitely a family man and would do anything for them. Sending them all lots of love.

I first met Jimmy in 1966 in the Carters Arm pub along with his other friends, Paul, John, Gerry, Barry, Warwick and Colin.
Jimmy, a larger than life character was always great company.
Despite living in different countries for the last 30 years some members of the old gang managed to meet up at reunions in Florida, U.K. and Canada

Jimmy went to Brookfield Comprehensive School where Ashraf commenced in 1959. They both worked for Fisher Bendix which was the beginning of their lifelong friendship.
After emigrating to Canada they worked together again for Boeing and some other contracts. Eventually Jimmy couldn't tolerate the cold winters so the family moved to Arlington in Texas.

Dad, there are no words how much I love you. You were the best Dad anyone could have.  Stu and I were blessed to have been your children.  I will carry on.

I  (a Man Utd supporter) first met 'Big Jim' in 1964 in Kirby, nr Liverpool, UK and even though he was an Everton supporter we established a lasting friendship!
And I recall he was even fixing Mini's then! He proudly claimed to have lifted the whole engine out on his own. 
We both became family men and his wife Ann was always at his side. We both left the UK for pastures new, Jim to Canada, I to Australia. And never lost touch, so much so I am now settled in Arlington..... and he still had a Mini in the garage he was fixing up!
To Ann and all his family and relatives I share your loss but I enjoy the happy memories. I send all my love and comfort.
