James was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 24, 1940. He served in the US Air Force for 20 years, with two tours in Viet Nam. After he retired,James moved his family to Texas where he worked as an airline fueler at DFW Airport for 20 years. He also worked for Grand Prairie Independent School District until he finally retired in June 2011.
James was a member of Vietnam Veterans Association of Grand Prairie Chapter # 1013 and the American Legion Sam Pike Post #184. He enjoyed helping others, wood working, model trains, traveling, country music, NASCAR, and spending time with his grandchildren.
James was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 48 years, Evelyn May McDaniel, and his granddaughter, Emily. He is survived by his children, Caroline and her husband Jerry Saenz, Melissa, Mary, James, and Katie and his granddaughters, Lauren, Victoria, Cheyanne, and Sara. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis, and his sisters Evelyn, Rita, Gloria, and Ruth and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
