A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at Moore Funeral Home Bowen Road Chapel. Inurnment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the D.F.W. National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas.
Herb was born November 25, 1937 in Alta Vista, Kansas to Cecil and Kathryn Orr. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington where he attained his accounting degree in 1975. He worked for the United American Insurance Company as Assistant Treasurer until his retirement in 2000. Herb was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mansfield.
For the past seven months, Herb lived at the Arbrook Retirement Community, where he served on the resident council. He became an excellent Wii bowler, recently scoring a perfect 300 game. Herb enjoyed fishing, hiking in the mountains of Montana, working puzzles and reading.
Herb is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Kennemer and husband Barry; one son, Greg Orr; four grandchildren, Christine, Chad, Ashley, and Michael; two great-grandchildren, Caine and Zach; the mother of his children, Ann Orr; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Ester.
Herb was preceded in death by his brother, Don Orr, of Hamilton, Montana.
