He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Winnie Burgess; his sister Janie Hagood (Gary) of Arlington, TX; his daughters Andrea Farris (Jason) of Waxahachie, TX, and Angelia Matthews (Allen) of Ft Worth, TX; stepson Trevor Hevalow (Stephani) of N. Richland Hills, TX; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Ed was preceded in death by his parents Edward (Hilton) and Gloria Burgess.
He was born in Jackson, MS but soon moved to Texas where he was raised in Dallas and Arlington. He has resided in Oak Leaf, Texas for the past 15 years.
He served in the US Army from 1968-1970 where he spent 14 months on the DMZ in South Korea. He retired from TU Electric in 1992 and later Target in 2010.
Ed loved all sports, but his greatest passion was football and the Dallas Cowboys. He had been a season ticket holder from 1975 to 2012 and he and Winnie were fortunate enough to attend the Cowboys 1992 Super Bowl. He also jumped at every chance to go fishing. Ed was devoted to his three little dogs – Lucy, Chrissy and Sassy.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
A committal service will take place at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211. A memorial service will then follow at 11:30 AM on Friday, February 9, 2018 at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
