He was born on April 22, 1965 in Fort Worth, Texas to Dennis Johnson Sr. and Lana Sue Davis. Dennis was raised in Bedford, Texas and graduated from LD Bell High school in 1983 where he made countless friends that he cherished till the day he passed.
Dennis married his wife Bandi Johnson in 1988. Together they shared many memories of traveling the world. They walked together through life with faith and confidence in their savior Jesus Christ. Bandi is and always will be the love of his life, they were together 36 years (October 1st). The couple had 2 boys together, Haden and Hudson who were the pride of his life.
Dennis was Vice President of Sales at Atlas Utility Supply where he worked closely with his dad Dennis Sr. and brother Brad. During his 30-year career at Atlas, D.J. made countless friends and memories. His outside sales role suited him perfectly because he never met a stranger and genuinely cared about people. He worked hard to build customer relationships based on honesty and integrity. Dennis used to always say, “people don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care”.
Dennis had two main passions in his life, his family and sports.
He enjoyed playing Football and Baseball growing up, and later coaching his sons Haden and Hudson throughout their baseball careers. Dennis coached the Bombers, Mud-dogs, and Blue Raiders where he strived to encourage and empower every single player. He always took a fair approach and respected the game. Dennis believed the correlation between life-lessons and baseball was more important than winning…but he loved to win!
In the more recent years of his life, Dennis’ new favorite hobby became spending time with family at Possum Kingdom Lake. He enjoyed taking the boat out for a cruise and listening to music. Dennis was always the life of the party, and his favorite songs were always on repeat – which ultimately brought out his infamous dance moves, including everybody’s favorite, the air trumpet. Countless nights were spent cutting up, laughing, and solving the world’s problems. Possum Kingdom Lake was truly his happy place, and many amazing memories of Dennis were made with Family and Friends at P.K.
Dennis is preceded in death by grandfather and grandmother George and Macie Longley, grandfather and grandmother Ray and Joe Ann Johnson, mother and stepfather, Lana and Roy Davis
