Dawson LaRue White, 18, of Dublin, Ohio, passed away on November 8th 2022 as a result of injuries received in a motor vehicle accident. Dawson is survived by his mother and father (Jennifer and Greg White), his sister (Riven White), grandparents (Linda and George Grant and Ronna Gary), an aunt and uncle (Karen and Trey Dacy) and cousins (Claire Dacy and Ian Dacy). He also leaves behind a large group of friends, school-mates, car-enthusiasts, gamers and coworkers.
He was born in Arlington, Texas on March 31st 2004. Dawson was the second of two children and born 13 months after his older sister, Riven. He spent the first two years of his life in Arlington, Texas before the family relocated to Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania. Growing up in Cranberry Township, with its amazing people, beautiful topology and abundant wildlife, was perfect for Dawson as he was active in [Cub/Boy] Scouting and loved the outdoors. He was also an active gamer enjoying the Lego series of games then transitioning to military-oriented games and ultimately automotive games. Pennsylvania provided Dawson ample opportunity to spend untold hours working with firearms, reloading and precision shooting on gun ranges. He was notably good with his compound bow and also enjoyed the more causal hobby of paintball. Dawson loved skiing and he spent untold days on the local ski slopes in Pennsylvania as well as various mountains in the Northeast and the West.
In 2018 he moved to Dublin, Ohio when his father's employment required the family to maintain homes in both Pennsylvania and Ohio. Dawson, who was 14 at the time, readily embraced his new town and quickly built a large friend group. Dublin, Ohio saw Dawson become an active bike rider and skateboarder while he maintained his passion for gaming. Before even turning 16 Dawson developed a passion for cars. Unfortunately he turned 16 during the COVID-19 lock-down delaying his ability to take Drivers Education and obtain his driver's license. He persevered and obtained his license as soon as reasonably possible. Within a few short days of getting his license he started calling every car dealership in the area looking for any entry-level job in order to jump-start his career. And, in his words, he was "tired of not having any money".
While he appreciated and enjoyed Dublin Jerome High School, his passion for cars lead him to expand his education to include the Automotive Tech program at Tolles which further advanced his focus and abilities. He had amazing teachers and administrators at both schools who were key to his success. Dawson bought his own 1999 BMW 528i and immediately started working on it. Eventually he purchased his 2020 Honda Civic Si which he truly loved and in which he poured thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of work. And he eventually purchased his 2008 BMW 335i as his "daily driver" so he could perform more significant work on his Civic. Dawson's passion for cars lead him to aggressively pursue greater and greater responsibility at the dealerships where he worked. He loved his work and his coworkers. He often arrived home after a long day and just had to share what he was working on and learning. His final conversation with his father was exactly that.
Dawson was a sensitive, caring individual with various large circles of friends that he often brought together. A number of his friends have reached out sharing their stories about how important and special Dawson's love and support was to them. His smile, dry humor, passion and love will be missed by many.
Dawson's Texas Celebration of Life will be held at Moore Funeral Home at 1219 N Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012 on Saturday, December 17th at 2pm. An Ohio Celebration of Life was held at Schoedinger Dublin, Ohio on Sunday, November 20th.
The family would like to acknowledge that the support of first-responders, family, friends, neighbors, coworkers, and the community at large has been nothing short of amazing and humbling. Given Dawson's passion the family is asking that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Tolles Automotive Tech program. Donations can be made at the following website and would be sincerely appreciated by Dawson.
