Thank you, Susan, for being such a good friend to Dan and reaching out so we could keep your Forrest Sherman group updated.

Dan was a senior when I arrived as a junior in Naples in Jan '67 so I knew of him more than knew him back then.  But over the years I got to know him better as he put together so many Wildcat reunions. He was the reason why these gatherings were always so great. He kept the Wildcat spirit strong in all of us. This picture was taken from Dan's Facebook profile page and says much about him: welcoming his friends and bidding us all 'until the next time.' 
Rest easy and in peace, Dan, and know that whenever we remember Naples and Forrest Sherman we will also be remembering you.

I wasn't able to attend,  but this is a photo from the Wildcat get together in in Las Vegas in November 2023. It seems to capture Dan's love of life and his friends.

I presented Dan with his very own 'Good Trouble' hat while in Las Vegas at one of the many reunions he planned. I told him to 'look thoughtful - pretend you're sitting for Rodin's 'The Thinker' and this was the picture I captured. I always said he was my OTHER OLDER brother and appreciated his many kindnesses, his sense of humor, his honesty, and perhaps above all, his humanity. Well lived life based on the outpouring from friends at his passing. He will be missed terribly.

Dan was a class behind me at Forrest Sherman and except for  dancing once at a school event,  we didn’t hang out.  After I got to know him from attending several of the reunions he organized, I treasured our friendship, He had such a warm smile and charming drawl ( and was a fellow U Texas alum).  He was so generous to everyone and a dedicated son.  Dan left his mark on the world.

I met Dan in 1966 as I began my junior year at FSHS in Naples, Italy.  He and I co-narrated the Christmas program that year.  Over the years, we learned that, unbeknownst to us, our paths had crossed at several other duty stations.  Having hosted reunions myself in Virginia Beach (1978) and Atlanta (1983), I got to know Dan even better thanks to his hosting of the 1999 Las Vegas reunion.  He was a great planner and loved to bring people together for fun!  In 2007, I hosted a short, Royal Caribbean cruise, and not only did Dan attend, but brought his lovely parents, too.  Of course, they became honorable Wildcats!

Since his passing, I hope Dan has looked down in awe at the Grand Canyon (#1 on his bucket list), and enjoyed every moment of his reunion with his brother and parents.  One day, we'll all be attending his NEXT reunion.  Hopefully, he'll have ready a pair of Green and Gold wings for each of us.  (I so miss his sarcastic wit!)  Love you Dan!

Dan was always so much fun and so very witty. We shared an afternoon typing class at FSHS where he kept me and all of us laughing-even the teacher! He will be missed, he is gone too soon.

Sending most sincere condolences.  Dan and I attended high school in Naples, Italy.   Then we “reconnected” again in 1999 planning a big Wildcat reunion in Las Vegas.  Then subsequent reunions.  Our fearless leader will be missed. ❤️

Dan and I became fast friends when he arrived in Naples in early-1965…also, the year my family was to depart Naples in the summer.  He kept me in stitches both in and out of classes at Forrest Sherman.  He really had a knack to create something humorous out of any situation.  We wrote to each other for a couple of years and then I lost track of him until I saw his name on Facebook about 7 years ago and reconnected with him.  Unfortunately, I was never able to attend any of his Wildcat gatherings through the years because of work and the final 5 years of my mom’s life as her caregiver/advocate.  But we talked on the phone quite a bit.  I found some of his letters from the ‘60s and, as a surprise, sent them back to him.  He was so thrilled that he even read them to his family.  Great memories of a great guy!  R.I.P. and love, Dan!

Memories of nearly 60 years ago include 4 of us who were close friends in Naples! Danny was always dear to us.  I am so glad I was able to reconnect about 8 years ago in Las Vegas. God bless our friend, Dan. May his family gain comfort from God  during this sad time.
