Cynthia Ann Anderson Garcia went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2023. Born to Arthur and Lois Anderson on November 3, 1947, in Denver, CO, she was the second oldest of nine children. As you’d expect, she had many wonderful and crazy life experiences with her big family before attending and graduating from The University of Albuquerque, where she met the love of her life. Cindy and John were married in 1968, moved to El Paso, TX where they started their family. They relocated to Arlington, TX in 1982 where they’ve called home the past 41 years.
Cindy filled her days living out her passion of teaching kids to read and was the most amazing and beloved elementary school teacher for over 45 years. She blessed many school districts with her talent including Albuquerque, El Paso, Fort Worth, and Grand Prairie. Not only was she dedicated to her students, she was very impactful and inspiring to her fellow teachers and found many lifelong friendships along the way.
Family was the most important part of Cindy’s life. She was everyone’s biggest supporter and loved watching the grandkids participate in their extracurricular activities. She loved a good road trip and experienced some spectacular travel adventures with her entire family. She was also a dedicated fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Stars with the wardrobe to prove it. She was a stickler for family traditions that will forever be passed on and loved making an event out of something that would otherwise go unnoticed such as making a cherry pie every year on George Washington’s birthday (maybe only the teachers will understand this). Most of all, she adored and loved her husband with everything she had which was evident every single day of their 54-year marriage. The love they shared is a rare and precious gift that will live on forever.
Cindy had a tremendous faith in God and lived her life accordingly. She was a devout member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church and valued her relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Cindy is survived by her husband John Garcia, daughter Tracy Salisbury and husband Jay, daughter Cari Overall and husband Mike, 6 grandchildren – Megan Stearman, Jack Salisbury, Ethan Salisbury, Dylan Salisbury, Emily Overall and Zach Overall, 2 great grandchildren – Elijah Stearman and Madeline Stearman, brother Bill Anderson and wife Karla, brother Paul Anderson, brother Tom Anderson, and sister Christine Warren. We will all miss her goofy mispronunciations, addiction to Candy Crush but mostly her sincere, caring, and giving heart.
Cindy is preceded in death by her parents Arthur I. Anderson and Lois M. Clark Anderson, brother Rodney Anderson, sister Theresa Wiggins, sister Mary Francis Anderson, and brother Mark Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donating to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
