Services for Clark Bridgland Smith, 88, of Arlington, who passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2012, at his residence, will be held on Monday, December 31, at First United Methodist Church in Arlington at 11:00 am. Dr. David Mosser will officiate. The family will receive friends on Sunday at Moore Funeral Home from 1:00 until 3:00 pm. Col. Smith was born on August 18, 1924 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He attended the Williamson Free School of Mechanical Trades in Media, PA. He entered the United States Air Force and was a pilot for 25 years, during which he received a Bachelor's Degree from the University of New Mexico in electrical engineering. He served a tour in the Korean War and also served a tour in Guam. He retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Col. Upon leaving the military, Col. Smith earned a Master's Degree in Business from the University of Texas at Arlington and worked in the aeronautical division of LTV for 25 years. He was a member of the Aldersgate class at First United Methodist Church of Arlington for 45 years. Col. Smith is survived by his wife of 67 years, Phyllis (Penny) Fincher Smith; son: Darrah Phillip Smith and his wife Rita; daughters: Debra Smith Ivy and Sandra Smith Grace and her husband Dick; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hug Works, 725 Mary Dr., Hurst, TX 76053.
