Charles Melvin Hitt, age 78, of Pantego, TX, passed away September 6, 2013 in Arlington, from complications of cancer. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Moore Funeral Home Chapel, 1219 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, with Marvin Balch and Kenneth Jones, officiating.
He was born April 1, 1935 in Forreston, TX, son of Melvin Hitt and Helen Wheatley Hitt. Charles graduated from Forreston High School and from Dallas Metropolitan Business College. He married Barbara Ann Davis on July 22, 1955, recently celebrating 58 years of marriage. Charles had a 41 year career in the military with the Texas Air National Guard. He was an active member of Bridgewood Church of Christ, and enjoyed being with his family, fishing, and hunting.
Charles is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons, Kevin Hitt and wife Jeannie and Chris Hitt and wife Kristi; grandchildren Marshall, Madison, Makenzie, Tyler, and Kayla; and one great-grandchild, Grayson.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home.
