A celebration of life will be held at Moore Funeral Home on N. Davis in Arlington, Texas, on Monday, January 6. The visitation will start at 12:00 Noon. The funeral will begin at 1:00 p.m. Burial will follow after the service at Parkdale Cemetery.
She was born to Howard and Lottie Mayfield on April 6, 1933. She was the oldest of four children. Carileta had twin sisters and one brother. Carileta graduated from Mansfield High School in 1950 as valedictorian of her class. She attended Arlington State College, and graduated from TWU with a degree in Home Economics. She taught in the Arlington School District for 37 years, plus 2 years in Greenville.
Carileta was a member of First Baptist Church Arlington and was an active member for years until her health began to decline. She was a kind and sweet lady to family and friends, always wanting to help others. Carileta was preceded in death by her husband Sam R. Ross in 2021; and her sister and brother-in-law Janette and Ray Coker in 2024. She is survived by her daughter Yakalene Zack; grandchildren, Quinton Zack, Kinsey Zack, and Rachel Hughes and her husband Marc, and great-granddaughter Ziggy Hughes; sister Cynthia Janice Fink; and brother Don Mayfield.
