It is with great sorrow that the family of Bonnie Frances Bridges Smith, announces her passing from this life on December 10, 2024. Bonnie, who was lovingly known as “Mimi”, peacefully entered into eternity surrounded by her family. She was a long-time resident of Grand Prairie, Texas and was 82 years old.
Bonnie was born on May 4, 1942 in Fisk, Missouri, to Spencer Lloyd Bridges and Anna Florence Bridges. Raised on a family farm, Bonnie enjoyed telling stories of playing in the cotton fields. She spent her formative years in Risco, Missouri, where she graduated from Risco High School. Bonnie was a Missourian at heart, with a feisty and sometimes stubborn ‘Show Me State’ personality.
With dedication, Bonnie loved her family as a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her love for her family was unmatched, as her heart was always open with warmth and kindness. She will be fondly remembered for her compassionate nature and unwavering devotion to those she loved dearly.
For many years, Bonnie served as an employee of the City of Grand Prairie, Texas. As an assistant to the City Manager and Mayor, she served the city and community with excellence and much dedication. She formed many lasting relationships over the course of her career.
Bonnie is survived by her children, Sheri Smith (Chris Marien) of Talisheek, Louisiana, Lori (Darrin) Powell of Dallas, Texas, Dana Moss of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Nathan Smith of Grand Prairie, Texas; seven grandchildren, Zachary Robinson, Kyle Robinson, Cory (Cliff) Giles, Kinsey (Jake) Upchurch, Audrey Powell, Seth Powell, and Adrian Powell; four great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Robinson, Keizer Upchurch, Kadence Upchurch, and Ariella Robinson; nephew, Bryan (Lori) Bridges and niece, Jennifer (Matt) Wassleman; and great-niece, Karina Bridges.
Preceding Bonnie in death were her husband, David Ricker Smith; her parents, Spencer Lloyd Bridges and Anna Florence Bridges; her brother and sister-in-law, Samuel and Virginia Bridges.
A celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Moore Funeral Home, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.
