ARLINGTON -- Billy Joe Blanton formerly of Abilene and Dallas passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2015 in a local nursing facility at the age of 90. Service: The family will hold a private service at the DFW National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials: Contributions may be made to the Blanton Place of Encouragement at High Plains Children's Home, 11461 South Western, Amarillo, TX 79118. Born January 29, 1925 to Everett Burly Sr. and Ida Mae Smith Blanton in Cleburne, TX, Bill grew up in Dallas and served in the Asiatic Pacific area as a member of the US Navy in WWII. Bill married Maxine McLeskey on April 11, 1948 where they were members of Trinity Heights Church of Christ in Dallas. After retiring from the Mercantile National Bank of Dallas after 38 Years, Bill and Maxine moved from Dallas to Abilene in 1990, where they were members of Highland Church of Christ. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, (2006), and his only brother, Everett Burley Blanton, Jr., (2010). Survivors: Bill is survived by two daughters: Sharon Flatt, (husband Richard Flatt), and Melissa Beth Blanton, (partner Steve Johnson); two grandchildren: Ian Flatt and Kevin Flatt as well as many nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
