Barry John Harris was born in Bellevue, IA on August 8, 1949, to Ken and Mary Jane (Even) Harris. He was raised in Bellevue and graduated from Marquette High School (Bellevue) in 1968.
Barry served his country in the United State Air Force from 1969 to 1973. While stationed at Ellsworth AFB in South Dakota, he met the love of his life, Leanne Reynolds. They married in June of 1972 and enjoyed 51 wonderful years together. Their journey led them to many places before finally settling in Arlington, TX. Here they lived and worked for the past 45 years.
Barry’s passion was sales, and he built his career in that field. He loved being a salesman and worked for Sherwin Williams, Coach House Gifts and the World Trade Center-Dallas.
Barry loved tennis as a younger man. He was on many baseball and softball teams as well as bowled on a team with his buddies. When he discovered fishing, they bought a boat and he was super happy. Then he discovered golf, and most other sports were forgotten. He spent many hours on the course playing with his friends. Barry was an avid New York Yankee fan and anyone who knew him knew this. But he also had a place in his heart for the Dallas Cowboys.
Barry was an outgoing happy guy. He had a great personality and could talk to anyone he met. He was never at a loss for words and was always willing to help his friends whenever needed. His vibrant personality will be truly missed.
Barry is survived by his loving wife Leanne; his three brothers, Bill Harris (Pat) of Waukee IA, Randy Harris (Joyce) of LeClaire IA, and Jeff Harris (Tracy) of Eldridge IA; also many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
