With a very saddened heart we said goodbye to my mom, Barbara S. Ciebien, on Sunday, September 27, 2024. At 95 years young, she fought death like a lion in her last days, showing us the strength and tenacity she exhibited throughout her life. I will miss her tremendously but know I will carry her within me forever. She was a force and a wonderful, caring person that taught me so much.
Barbara had a successful career throughout her life, working for the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. She started in the typing pool and retired in August 1998 after 36 years of dedicated service, as the Human Resources Director of the AAFES SW Region Headquarters in Dallas, TX.
Barbara is survived by her only child, daughter, Tamara L. Vassey (husband, Terry); grandson, Christopher; and sister, Kathy S. Fox (her son, Jason, and Mark (husband).
Predeceased family members include, her husband, Larry E. Ciebien; grandson, Clinton A.D. Anderson; father, George D. Shumate; mother, Louis B. Blalock; grandfather, Leonard R. Shumate; and grandmother, Lucy C. Shumate.
Barbara requested no formal services be held, but will remain cherished, loved, and remembered forever!
