Service: 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Moore Funeral Home. Interment: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials: a hospice of choice, in lieu of flowers.
Claude was born the first child of Claude Bertram and Adelia Adeline Davis Hughes on April 11, 1924, in Moore, Okla. He lived through the Oklahoma dust storms, grasshopper and cricket plagues, the Great Depression and World War II. It was during World War II that he was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge and received the Purple Heart along with the Bronze Star.
In 1943 he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Ellen Powers.
In July 1946, he was hired by Graybar Electric Co. and continued to work there until his retirement in 1977. He was branch manager of its Oklahoma City and Colorado Springs offices. After his retirement, he lived in Buena Vista, Colo.; Casa Grande, Ariz.; and Keller and North Richland Hills.

Preceding him in death were his parents and twin great-grandsons, Dax and Dalton.
Survivors: His loving wife of 67 years, Mary Ellen; daughters, Claudia Davis and husband, Don, and Pam Cartwright and husband, Roger; grandchildren; Jacob Tindall and wife, Cindy, Amy Lynne Weathers and husband, Robert, Wade Cartwright and partner, Blake Burba, Randy Davis, Chris Davis, Donna Gingras and husband, Phil, and Susan Davis. He also leaves behind his great-grandchildren, Braden Tindall, Preston Maxwell, Megan, Ali and Hannah Steel, Tori Davis, Madison and Zach Weathers; sister, Jo Lyn Hall; and brother, Don Hughes and wife, Beverly.
