Alfred DeLaTorre born Feb. 19, 1943, in Dallas, TX was residing in Fort Worth, TX when he went home to be with our Lord on October 1, 2013. He was the owner of DelLaTorre Optical for 35 years, located in Dallas, TX; he was known and loved by many. He always had many happy customers. Many of those customers had been with him for years and followed him even when he had moved locations. Papa or Grandpa as he was known by his grandkids was loved and respected by all. He loved to share stories about his childhood and stories from the bible. In fact, this is how he started every morning; by reading his daily inspirational and scripture from his bible. He believed in living in the way Christ wanted us to live and believing in his teachings and would share with anyone who was willing to listen to the good word. Al was an avid golfer, and was a previous member of the North Texas PGA and Senior Golf Circuit. He had several holes in one- his most recent hole in one made on May 6, 2013 at Waterchase Golf Course. He was able to check off one of his bucket list itemsby getting to golf and stay at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Resort during the summer of 2012. He smiled all day long that day even though he didn't play his best. Even his last days with us ended with a small bang and he got his name in Fort Worth Star Telegram. He played a round of golf on Monday, 9/30/13 and shot a 72 in the Grumpy Old Mens round- not bad for a grumpy old man. With the exception, Maria, golf was his true passion. He will be greatly missed and remembered by his strong will in never giving up. Dad, we will miss you but we will await for that great homecoming day!!
