The Murphy family has lost its patriarch. While we mourn the loss of Bill, we wish to celebrate his life. Bill was a quiet, generous and selfless man, always looking for what he could do for others.
Bill was loved by many family members and friends.
William Sherrill Murphy, 90, beloved son of the late William Murphy and Virginia Murphy nee Maier, and his stepmother, Irene Murphy nee Knutson; devoted husband of Therese Murphy nee Cermak; dear father of William (Mary Ann), the late Patrick (Karen), Daniel (Carmen), and Timothy (Sharon); dear brother of the late Dennis Murphy (Sally), and the late Patricia Murphy; dear brother in law of Genevieve Liska nee Cermak (the late Louis); dear grandfather to Danielle Gammicchia nee Frangos, William Frangos, Michael Murphy (Chris) and Alyssa Murphy (Gretchen); John and Daniel Murphy; Ryan, Rachel (Will), Jack, Grace, and Finn Doyle; and great grandfather to Gianna and Nicholas Girup, Seraphina and Aria Murphy, and Quinn Pierce.
Bill graduated from Providence - St. Mel's High School, went on to graduate college from St. Mary's college in Winona, Minnesota with a degree in Chemistry. He then went onto Loyola University for his Masters degree in Chemistry. He spent the majority of his career at Bruning/AM, there he worked as a chemist and later managed the supplies engineering group. In the 1960s, he developed several duplicating fluids during his career and held two patents.
Bill was an avid racquetball player when he was younger and played golf for many years as he got older. He loved to travel with his wife, Therese, and they enjoyed many trips throughout Europe and United States. They also spent a week a year in Cancun, Mexico for many years.
