Patrick was born on November 20, 1983 in Hoffman Estates to Joe and Jeanne (Moran) Houlihan. He was the youngest of three boys and always looked up to his big brothers.
He spent his early years in Ireland, and he carried his love of his culture and his family’s homeland throughout his life. After returning to Illinois, Patrick graduated from Hersey High School in Arlington Heights and Triton College in River Grove. He graduated from LeCordon Bleu Culinary College and worked as a chef for several years. Patrick returned to school and obtained his Stationary Engineer's license. He was a proud member of Local 399. He took great pride in his work, and he was a trustworthy and dependable colleague. All who worked with him through the years can speak to his dedication and work ethic.
He loved outdoor adventure, and spent a great deal of time kayaking, fishing, and rock climbing. He also loved to travel, having spent his November birthday in Amsterdam, and he could often be found talking about his latest travels and future trips. Pat loved music and attended many concerts with his friends and brothers.
He was an extremely kind person, and all of his friends and even many strangers can attest to his unwavering generosity. He was always willing to help out a person in need.
Patrick is survived by his parents, brother Brendan, nieces Emma and Evie, nephew James, sister-in-law Alicia, cousins in the US, Ireland, England and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his brother Kevin.
Patrick was a great and loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be dearly missed.
