Marcia was born on October 27, 1928, in Washington, DC to her beloved parents, Lynn and Evelyn (nee Lake) Hench. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School, then began her college days at George Washington University. Marcia transferred to Wheaton College (IL) where she made lifetime friends and graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. Following graduation, Marcia spent some time working at the Wheaton College Library, which led her to pursue her Master’s Degree in Library Science from Drexel University.
After completing her graduate program, Marcia returned to Washington, DC to work at the Pentagon Library. During that time, she became very involved in the young adult group at Fourth Presbyterian Church, where she met her husband Warren. Marcia and Warren were married there on October 14, 1961. Together, they had 3 children and 7 grandchildren. In the early years of their marriage, Warren and Marcia moved to Wilbraham, MA, where they raised their family and were very involved in the life of their church. In their retirement years, Marcia and Warren enjoyed spending time in both Sarasota, FL and Arlington Heights, IL near their family.
Marcia was a devoted wife, mother and follower of Christ, often speaking of God’s faithfulness to her and her family. She lovingly supported her husband, faithfully served her family and remained very active in her church. Marcia enjoyed spending time in Bible study groups, using her artistic abilities in making crafts and traveling to all 50 states and many places abroad.
Marcia joins her husband and parents in Heaven. She is survived by her children Debbie (Neil) Kaiser, David (Kristin) Wise, and Susan (Jay) Brown; her grandchildren Hannah Kaiser, Alisa (Braxton) West, Sam, James and Will Wise, Joshua and Zachary Brown.
A private family graveside service will be held at The Wheaton Cemetery on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.
