Katherine Claire Sindelar (nee Schuh) was born on April 27, 1937, to Christopher Schuh and Frances (Theiss). She attended Catholic schools in Chicago and graduated from Alverno College in Milwaukee in 1959 with a BA in elementary education. Claire started her teaching career at Kimball Hill Elementary in Rolling Meadows only taking off for the birth of her children Kristen Iwan (Mark) and Michelle Rago (John). She was married to Leo Bailleaux for 9 years. They remained friends until Leo's passing in 2016.
In 1976, Claire met Jim Sindelar, also teacher/counselor. Their love for each other was deep and unabating. With Jim's son, Eric (Heather), a loving family was made. Claire and Jim had so much love to give, they decided to bring two more beautiful souls into the mix, Matthew and Asha (Ramesh Ganesan) completed their family.
Claire was a devoted, caring teacher for 37 years. She enjoyed reading and playing bridge with friends. She was also committed to exercise and healthy living. Jim and Claire have 8 grandchildren: Dan, Lucas, Ben Rago; Austin, Alina, Mikayla Iwan; Lauryn Sindelar; Divya Ganesan; and 1 great grandchild Charlotte Rago. Claire enjoyed skiing, biking, tennis and playing games. Jim and Claire were regulars at Dover Straits where they would dance the night away. In addition, they loved to see jazz, blues and big band acts at Fitzgerald's.
Claire will be remembered for her love of family, her kind and giving soul and her vivacious personality.
