Joe was a proud veteran of the United States Navy where he served on the USS Ticonderoga. He was a talented drawing artist and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and he was always researching all types of topics. He loved music, movies, cars, trains, and bears, and he was a loveable uncle.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife, Margareth “Marge” (nee Gursky) Rangel, his siblings, Maria (the late Jesse) Castaneda, Patricia (Jose) Guerrero, Leticia Kalkstein, Mary Elizabeth Rangel, and Roger Rangel, his nieces and nephews, Jessica, Mark, James, Sarah, Stephanie, Farid, Julie, and Cathy, and many great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Clara Rangel, his brothers, James Rangel, and Gerard Rangel, and his beloved nephews, David “DJ” Kalkstein and Daniel Guerrero.
Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glueckert Funeral Home, 1520 N Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
Mass will be Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. with a visitation the hour prior, all at St. James Catholic Church, 820 N Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights.
Burial to follow Mass at Maryhill Cemetery.
