Elizabeth "Betty" M. Thompson

Elizabeth M. “Betty” Thompson formerly of Arlington Heights was born on May 19, 1931 to the late Walter and late Matie Eklund and passed away October 6, 2024. Betty was the devoted wife of the late Craig S. Thompson; loving mother of Sharon E. (Christopher) Norman and Robert C. (Nancy) Thompson; devoted grandmother of Salina (Kevin) Keller, Charlotte Norman, Daniel (Allie) Thompson and Lauren (Eli) Shermer; proud great-grandmother of many wonderful great-grandchildren; dear sister of Mary Louise Johnsen and the late Katherine Gerschefske.

Betty and Craig moved to Arlington Heights in 1960 where Betty lived for 60 years. Their yard and flowers were their pride and joy and reflected both their hard work and creativity. Betty loved to bowl and had a fierce competitiveness. Betty and Craig loved to travel and traveled to many destinations on cruise ships. Betty loved to collect dolls, glassware and 100’s of knickknacks from their various antiquing trips around Northern Illinois and Wisconsin. Family gatherings in the early years were frequent with Aunts, Uncles, cousins and sweet Grandmother’s where beer drinking and poker playing were staples. Cousins were like bonus siblings. Life was full of many bumpy roads for Betty but in the end family was her most important treasure.
