David F. Smith, 90 of Vernon Hills, formerly of Wheeling, IL was born April 11, 1930 in Lincoln, KS to Thayer and Ethel (Saunders) Smith passed away April 28, 2020 after a long illness.
David was the beloved husband of Martha E. (Manning) Smith; loving father of Charles (fiancé Denise) Smith, James (Pamela) Smith, Sarah (Daryl) Fandrich and Neal (Tammy) Smith; Grandfather of Charles (Robin) Smith Jr., Jessica (Brian) Page, Keith (Jennifer) Smith, Clifford (Hannah) Fandrich and Jeffery Fandrich; Keith (Holly) McClenning, Amy (Josh) Sanford Sr., Alyssa Beeman (fiancé Eric) and John Hack; Cherished great-grandfather of Jacob, Olivia, Owen, Abigail, Liam, Eleanor, Kurt, Lilly, Josh, Kaleigh, Nicki and Mykayla; Dear brother of Delbert (Norma) Smith, Dee (Don) Rathbun and the late Dorcus Nelson (Darrel) and loving uncle of many nieces and nephews.
David is a retired veteran of the U.S. Navy and Civil Service employee of the Department of Defense.
