Charles Andrew Benedict (Charlie), age 54 of Arlington Heights, Illinois entered into eternal rest on October 29, 2021. He was born in Evanston, Illinois on February 23, 1967, to Marian and Neil Benedict, Jr.
Charlie went to St. Athanasius Parish School in Evanston, Illinois. He graduated class of 1986 from Loyola Academy in Wilmette, Illinois. Charlie attended and graduated from Lewis University with a degree in Aviation Management. After a few years in the aviation industry, he chose to work in the family business at Ajax Tool Works in Franklin Park, Illinois. He wore many hats while working at Ajax but found his passion programming robotics and then managing the Information systems. He worked at Ajax for 25 years touching every aspect of the business and the people who work at Ajax.
The best to way to describe Charlie is that he had a childlike playfulness and added humor to every situation. He LOVED everything Star Wars and regularly dressed to go to Star Wars events and conventions. He also loved building models, Godzilla, antiques, and refurbishing slot machines. His creative talents included everything from wood working to 3d printing. He designed a way to level the base of the 3d printer and shared the technique to the makers community. This technique has now become a standard for 3d printers. He loved kayaking, fishing, and camping with friends. He was affectionately known as “Uncle Buck” by his 29 nieces and nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews. He was well loved by his 10 older siblings.
He is survived by his siblings, Melissa (Terry) Allen, Bob (Marybeth) Benedict, Bill (Sue) Benedict, John (Donna) Benedict, Marie (Al) Mical, Ellen (Dave) Snodgrass, Irene (Jerry) Lannoye, Katie (Bill) Cullen, and his aunt, Irene Pierson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marian and Neil W. Benedict Jr and his siblings Margaret (Al) Griesbaum and Laurance D. (Chris) Benedict.
Memorial visitation will Friday, November 12, 2021 from 4-8 PM at Lauterburg & Oehler Funeral Home, 2000 E. Northwest Highway, Arlington Heights where a Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 13 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines.
