Bobby Joe Conner, 91, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, September 26, 2023 following several years of declining health.
Bobby was born in Randolph County, June 24, 1932, a son of the late Clifford Joseph Conner and Minerva Lou Parker Conner. He worked at several area furniture companies as well as crafting his own furniture. Bobby even built furniture that was placed in the White House at the request of President Dwight Eisenhower and a piece for Vernon Presley, father of Elvis. He was a longtime member of First Wesleyan Church in Randleman. Bobby was an avid fisherman and enjoyed extensive fishing trips with his second wife, Joyce. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and worked at the Hillsville Flea Market for many years. Bobby was preceded in death by his first wife, Fannie Conner and a sister, Nancy.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce Conner; two daughters, Linda Jones and Joann Hunt (Eddie); a step-son, John Miller; a sister, Peggy Pike; four grandchildren, Trevin Jones, Jeremy Hunt, Daniel Miller and Aurora Miller; a great-grandson, Tyler Hunt.
Graveside service will be held Monday, October, 2, 2023 at 3 p.m. at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro by Eddie Hunt. Memorials may be directed to the Randolph County Animal Shelter.
