Today, we honor the extraordinary life of Glenna Marie Ferrell - a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and guiding light in our lives. Glenna departed this world on October 8, 2024, after a brief yet courageous battle with cancer. She faced her final challenge as she lived her life: with unwavering strength, dignity, grace, and an enduring concern for others.
Born on October 20, 1952, Glenna embodied resilience and compassion. Her life was a testament to dedication, empowerment, and accomplishment, built on a foundation of education and an unwavering commitment to family. She stood as a pillar of strength for our family and an inspiration to all fortunate enough to know her.
Jerry, Glenna's husband of 47 years, reflects, "Our love story began like a romance novel. I chased Glenna all the way to Hawaii, knowing she was the woman of my dreams." Their partnership, spanning five decades, exemplified enduring love, mutual respect, and steadfast support. Together, they created a home brimming with warmth, laughter, and cherished memories.
Jerad, their son, shares, "I couldn't have asked for a better mother. She sacrificed everything for Dad and me, always putting herself second to ensure we thrived. Neither Dad nor I would be the men we are today without Mom. Her influence shaped not only my personal growth but also who I am as a father. Her lessons in love, patience, and selflessness guide me daily as I raise my own children. How do I say goodbye to the woman who brought me into this world, who named me, who taught me most of what I know, instilled all the great values in me that make me the man I am? I realize I can't say goodbye because you'll always be such a core part of me that will live on with me forever".
As a mother, Glenna was extraordinary. She instilled values that became the bedrock of Jerad's character, teaching discipline, hard work, and the golden rule of treating others with kindness. Jerad recalls her tireless dedication - countless hours of homework help, drives to tennis lessons and tournaments, and her unwavering presence at every match. Each life experience became an opportunity for her to impart deeper wisdom.
Glenna's nurturing spirit knew no bounds. She embraced her role as stepmother to Jerry's two daughters, Sherry and Shelly, becoming an integral part of their lives. Her legendary hospitality made every guest feel like royalty - from chocolates on pillows to personalized toiletries and favorite meals prepared with love. She had a gift for making everyone feel truly at home and valued.
In her professional life, Glenna was a trailblazer. She ascended to leadership in one of the nation's largest electrical firms, standing tall as a powerful woman in construction long before it was common. Facing challenges head-on, she never made excuses or claimed unfairness. Later, she reinvented herself as a successful realtor in Colorado, showcasing her adaptability and drive. Her contributions were also instrumental in building Ferrell Companies, a thriving software business serving the construction industry.
Glenna lived by profound values, teaching the importance of honesty, integrity, and accountability. Her emphasis on education and continuous learning inspired growth in all those around her. She touched countless lives with her kindness and selflessness, always prioritizing others' needs before her own.
Even in her final days, Glenna's strength of character shone brightly. She faced her illness without fear, maintaining her cheerful disposition and continuing to put others first - a final testament to her selfless nature and faith in the Lord.
Glenna is survived by her husband Jerry, son Jerad, grandsons Jordan and Jaden, future daughter-in-law Kelly, mother Beverly, Sister Jackie and future step-grandson Jonah. Each family member shared touching tributes:
Jordan, her grandson, remembers: "Grandma was one of the most important people in my life, a mother figure when I did not have one. Our weekly lunches, game nights, and the hard work she put into every holiday are memories I'll always remember and be thankful for. Even in her last days, we played Guess Who at the hospital - a moment I'll never forget. She was always there for me in hard times and was always thinking of others before herself."
Jaden, her younger grandson, shares: "She was the most loving and caring and best grandma anyone could ask for. Our hours of card games and chess matches are memories I'll miss. I love her and know she loved each of us more than anything."
Kelly, Jerad's fiancée, offers a heartfelt tribute: "Mom will forever hold a special place in my heart. She guided me through life with immense kindness and grace, always there with a hug, advice, or a listening ear when times were tough. Her love for family knew no bounds. Truly a light in this world, she never uttered an unkind word, remaining calm and soft-spoken in all situations. Though not her daughter by blood, she embraced me and my son Jonah as her own. Her quiet wisdom permeated everything she said. The thought of her brings tears to my eyes; I'll never stop missing her. She devoted her life to showering her husband, son, and grandkids with boundless love. Words can't fully capture her impact on us all, but I'm certain that anyone who met Glenna Ferrell encountered an angel. I love you endlessly, Mom."
As we bid farewell to our dearest Glenna - a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and sister - we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love.
