Thomas Jacob Spaulding, 61 passed away on Sunday February 12, 2023. He is survived by his loving wife, Christine. Parents David and Lorraine Spaulding. Siblings David (Elizabeth), Barbara (Mike) Potts, Andrea and nephew Derek (Deanna) Spaulding.
Tom was born on June 27, 1961 in upstate New York. He grew up on a dairy farm which instilled a dedicated work ethic that set the precedent for his life. He brought that work ethic to Farmingdale State College where he earned an Associate Degree and won a National Championship in Lacrosse. He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering from Cornell University and Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Syracuse University. He moved to the Raleigh area in the 1990’s and quickly co-founded his own consulting firm later known as The Spaulding Group, PA. Tom was a gifted visionary, designer, planner and engineer responsible for the birth and construction of thousands of neighborhoods and commercial projects across the triangle region in a career that spanned over three decades. One of his best attributes was his ability to form lasting relationships built on trust. Tom took great joy in helping those he met realize their full potential in work and life. While he wasn’t all work; he enjoyed NC State football games (the tailgate spreads are legendary), concerts, fishing, gardening, cooking epic dinners, beekeeping, construction, and coaching high school lacrosse. His greatest source of enjoyment was spending time and making countless memories with the absolute love of his life, Christine.
A celebration of life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday February 25, 2023, at Apex Funeral Home and livestreamed on the Apex Funeral Home Facebook page.
