Pansy Broadwell Womble, 84, of New Hill, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 31, 2012. Pansy was born in Wake County, NC on April 28, 1928 to the late Alf O. Broadwell and Lillian Hamrick Broadwell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Mitchell and Larue McGhee, and brother, Buddy Broadwell.
After working as a devoted homemaker for many years, Pansy worked the next 20 years as an executive secretary at Cooper Tools. She was a long standing faithful member of New Hill Baptist Church where she served as church clerk, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. Pansy was a beautiful, loving Wife, Mother, and special “MeMa.” She loved the Lord and her family with all her heart and had a strong, unique spirit that will be missed by all who knew her.
Pansy is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Wallace W. Womble. Her three children, Wayne Womble and wife Phyllis, Tommy Womble and wife Bertie, Patty W. McIver and husband Keith, all of New Hill. Grandchildren, Jodi W. Gore and husband Matthew, Jeffrey Womble, Kaitlyn McIver, Joseph McIver, and Jacob McIver. Great-grandchildren, Charlotte Gore, Miller Gore, Weldon Gore, and CeCe Womble. Sisters, Dot Mulholland, Marilyn Martin, Jessie Lesher, and Sue Holcombe. Numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank all the friends and family for the loving support shown during her illness. Special thanks to Gerald and Jeannie Hart, New Hill Baptist Church family, Susan Matthews, and Hospice of Wake County.
A celebration of her life will be held at New Hill Baptist Church on Friday, August 3, 2012 at 11:00am. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, August 2, 2012 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at the Apex Funeral Home.
Flowers are welcome or donations can be made to the New Hill Baptist Church cemetery fund or Hospice of Wake County.
