Kaye Conner

Kaye was born on September 2, 1949 at Mary Elizabeth Hospital in Raleigh, NC to the late William "Milton" Walls and Erma Wilson Walls. She was a graduate of Broughton High School in Raleigh. She began her professional career in 1967 with First Citizens Bank and in 1974 accepted an administrative position with the Raleigh School System which later merged with the Wake County School System. For 21 years she worked as an administrative secretary for the school Curriculum and Instruction Department, the Transportation Department, and to the offices of the Athletic Director, Driver Education Director, and Health and Physical Education Director. In 1995 she transferred to Apex High School for an opportunity to work directly with the students. She retired in 2004 and then immediately returned to Apex High School as a substitute teacher where she worked until her health would no longer allow her do so. She loved the students she worked with and the students loved her.

As a blind date, Kaye met, her husband to be, David Warren Conner, Sr. in 1976 and they were married in 1977. Her favorite things in life were her two sons, her five grandchildren (which she doted on), and anything beach (especially beach music).

Kaye was preceded in death by her father, her mother, and her brother Jerry Allen Wall.

She will be lovingly remembered and survived by her husband: her loving sons David Conner, II and wife Andrea of Fuquay-Varina, NC; Jody Conner and wife Kristen of Apex, NC; her adored grandchildren, David Conner, III (Trey), Chase Conner, Rylan Conner, Ella Conner, and Hayden Conner; her brother William "Bill" Walls of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; her nephew Kenneth "Ken" Wall of Garner NC; her "best bud" of 52 years Betty Bunn of Knightdale, NC; and many much loved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Apex Funeral Home from 3:00 to 5:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Apex Funeral Home immediately followed by a graveside service at Apex Cemetery. Services will be officiated by the Reverend Tim Hopkins.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that contributions be made to a memorial fund for support of the Apex High School athletics programs. Contribution may be made to any branch of the NC State Employees' Credit Union or be mailed to State Employees' Credit Union, 1065 Vision Drive, Apex, NC 27523. Contributions should be made payable to David W. Conner and be noted "Memorial Fund".
