John Leslie Bolan, (Butch) 72, of Cary NC, peacefully passed at Duke University Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. John was born in Shortsville, NY on April 21, 1940 to William Bolan and Marjorie Rippey Bolan.
He is survived by his wife: Dolores; sons: David (Andrea) of Fairport, NY and Scott (Elizabeth) of Purcellville, VA; daughters: Cheri (Craig) Whittenberg of Morrisville, NC and twin daughters: Joanie Bolan and boyfriend Joe Lawrence of Herndon, VA, and Janet Gregory (Matthew) of Clayton, NC.
He is also survived by his brothers: Gerald (Alta) of Webster, NY, Michael (Mary Kay) of Geneva, NY, and James (Linda) of Clifton Springs, NY. John is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Zachary, Nicholas, Sydney, Kendall, Cade, Alexis, Riley and Tanner….and awaiting one from heaven.
He is preceded in death by his sister: Marjorie DeMay and brother, William (surviving wife Joanne).
John and his wife lived in the Finger Lakes area for over 35 years. He owned his own business, Sandwich Services in Rochester, NY before moving to North Carolina upon retirement. John was an avid member of the Clifton Springs- Phelps Jaycees, a board member of the Clifton Springs YMCA, a member of the St. Felix Catholic Church in Clifton Springs and an avid sports enthusiast.
A funeral mass will be held at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church on Friday, August 24 at 1:30 pm in Shortsville, NY.
