Zipper was one of the first people I met at Ft. Bragg when I got here in 1985. One of the nicest men I have ever known.

For the past 3years I’ve worked as a caretaker with Howard and Sandy, hearing the news of Howards passing has deeply saddened me but I take comfort in the memories we’ve shared. Howard will forever live on in my memories, the time we spent together and the laughs we shared will never be forgotten. Howard and Sandy have became my family in this short time Iwas blessed to spend his past birthday with him, i brought him balloons and cake and I will never forget his smile and the kind words he shared with me that day, he was truly a sweet soul and I’m happy that I was able to share the time I did with him. 

Mr H was a wonderful person I only know him for a short while but he made a lasting impact on my life , MR. H , you will be truly missed 

Howard you will never ever be forgotten!  We Love you!❤️❤️

To Sandy, Family and Tanya Anderson, thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve these two amazing people! I am still in disbelief that our Howie is no longer here,  but took the wings of glory and flew to his heavenly home! It’s hard to mention Howard without mentioning Sandy (two peas in a pod), I would always called them. Although, my job was to ensure they were well  taken care of , they were not just clients, they were truly family! (Tanya A) did an awesome job with their care, and made sure they were protected and cared for at all times. 

I remember the candle light dinner we had for their anniversary, balloons/ flowers and cakes for their birthdays, Father’s-and Mother’s Day gifts , Tanya always made sure they felt loved and remembered those during those special moments! It would  bring smiles to their faces , it was the highlight of my day. About a month ago, I told Tanya to tell them hello, and Howard said hello we miss you! I truly miss them as well! 

Sandy my friend my prayers are truly with you, and I pray God gives you strength and peace in this time! Love you Nannette Glaspie

Sandy it was an honor to work with our Howie he was definitely one of a kind the absolute Sweetest he loved you and his Grand kids, family and friends remember he will always be in your heart and cherish all the beautiful Memories we had some good times together he will definitely be missed until we meet again Howie Thanks for serving your Country I will never forget all the talks and stories that your shared with me!!

To Sandy and the Allen family Howard will be deeply missed he left such a heart warming legacy with his family,  Tanya  caretakers and friends  I'm glad  I had a chance  to help with  his care for short  while  .God new  he was tired  may you take comfort in knowing there is one more  angle above  us Rip Howard 🙏🏽 

Poppy was the sweetest man. He would do anything in the world for his family and friends. I was so blessed to know him my entire life. He loved me like his own granddaughter. I'll cherish the moments I got to spend with him and my best friend and forever remember all the times he made me laugh.  I'll never forget you, until we meet again.

Dear Angie,
We are very sorry to hear the news of your father's passing. May God comfort you and your family as you walk your journey of grief. We greatly appreciate and honor him for his service to our nation.  He now is with the Army of Angels and  watching over you.

Howard made a lasting impression on my life.  He introduced me to ceviche (I'm a huge fan to this day and think of him anytime I eat it), Thai, and Indian food!  He was a big ole teddy bear with a larger than life presence.  And he was incredibly generous and kind.  My love and prayers are with you all.  God speed Howard <3

Howard was such a vivacious and life loving man! I had the privilege of knowing Howard for many, many years. He lived life to its fullest. I remember him sharing stories of how he met the love of his life Sandy. I know how important his family was to him and how he did amazing things for each of them but how they all had so much fun each year with the over-the-top Easter egg hunt, even the parents getting into it! My heart goes out to you all. Howard lived a life full of love, adventure with family at the forefront. May you cherish these amazing memories and may it lighten your heart at this most difficult time.

I was blessed and honored to have Howard as my father -in-law. He is a TRUE AMERICAN HERO. He lived a fascinating life. I was always so intrigued when he would talk of his adventures around the world. I was 14 when I met Howard. I was sitting on the couch with my future wife (who I still adore, and my love still grows for her with each passing day) Danielle. This had to be 1990. This tall overbearing figure walks in the room, and with his deep commanding voice he says " what are you doing sitting so close to my daughter you little weasel" I immediately jumped up, introduced myself, and found somewhere else to sit. I would say pretty much all my encounters with Howard where that memorable.  Thats the person he was, memorable. He was adored by all that knew him. He loved his family, especially his wife Sandy (who I also adore and love very much) and his grand kids and great grandkids. He will be missed terribly by those of us left in this world. Until we meet again Howard. Thank you so much for everything you did for my family. Thank you for being the Hero you are to me. Thank you for your service to this country. I love you.
   

The first time I met Zippy, was in 1964 in Germany, He was working at the Jump School  Sgt. E-5, i served with Zipper, in Viet Nam,as well, Zipper helped Me thru out my 24 years in the Army !   Zipper was a fine example of a Special Forces Soldier, a Great father & family Man,,but most of all ZIPPER Allen, was MY VERY GOOD FRIEND, TRAVEL WELL ZIPPER, GOD BLESS YOU & FAMILY !

Howard was so fun! Always happy. Matthew and Mitchell just thought so much of him. No doubt, he will be missed.


I sure do love my uncle/cousin Howard. He was the life of the party.  His energy and zeal will be missed. May his soul be wild and free, and at peace. Sending lots of love to Sandy and the kids and grandkids. He sure did love each of you so very much.

We were so sad to hear of Howard's passing. Our memories of Howard was that he loved his family so incredibly much and that loved spilled out into our little neighborhood and touched many of us. I met Howard(Zipper)in 1962 as members of the 82d Div.Arty.  Zipper was in E-Btry, I was in D-Btry.( 320th FA) From there we were in the same unit in Wiesbaden, Germany (81stFA)I've  Known Zipper for many years and he has always been a great person and a friend. He will be truly  missed. RIP my Brother.

So many memories and stories that I could tell about Zipper. Bottom line he was loyal, and very dictated to his family and those that worked for him. Sandy was the love of his life. He loved his children and grand children. He will be sorely missed by all.  He was my brother in arms.  May he Rest In Peace

Way too memories to talk about.  But we sure did love to talk about the good and not so  good old days whenever we could. If you knew Howard you don’t need to be told what a kind loving human he was.   Gracious we cousins were raised as brothers and sisters.  We love and are proud of our bad Allen blood. I love you Howard.  

To Sandy and Howard's family,

We are heartbroken to learn of Howard's death, he was one of the SWEETEST men we have known in our lifetime.  We shared Summercrest Drive with him for over 25 years and always knew Howard and Sandy were a phone call away if you needed a neighbor.  There are endless memories to share, but just his big hugs, sweet smile, and caring love will forever be with us.

Sandy, we love you!  Howard, rest in peace and thanks for serving our country!
