Glenn Johnson Farrell was born May 6, 1929 in Chatham Co., N.C. to Robert Glenn and Mary Johnson Farrell. He was educated and a graduate of Bells High School in Chatham Co. He retired from N.C. Dept. of Motor Vehicles after 32 years of law enforcement. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church where he sang in the choir and served as deacon. He was a member of the Apex Masonic Lodge #584 and Scottish Rites 32nd degree.
Glenn loved sports and music having played softball in Durham City Leagues, Apex City League and coaching church teams. His favorite music was gospel and was active in church choirs and choral groups. He never saw a stranger and loved a good conversation with anyone who would listen to him. Cooking barbecue, brunswick stew and pecan brittle was his hobby.
He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Grace Pendergraft and brother, Billy Farrell.
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ann Bullock Farrell; son, Robert Glenwood (Woody) Farrell and his wife, Kathy of Knoxville, Tenn.; daughter, Glenda Farrell Alexander and her husband, Benjamin T. Alexander, III of Apex; grandsons Robert Gregory Farrell of Knoxville, Tenn., Benjamin T. Alexander, IV of Apex; and granddaughter, Holly Glenn Alexander of Apex.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church on Saturday, July 28, 2012 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. The Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 A.M. with burial in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery. A luncheon, held in the fellowship hall, will follow the graveside committal.
