Gladys was originally from Whiteville, NC and met her husband, Jack, through her uncle. They lived on Hwy 55 for years and relocated to Fuquay Varina over 20 years ago. Gladys was an expert seamstress, who worked for Minnie D in South Square Mall to alter cloths. She created custom suites and dresses, as well as costumes for Disney characters (Mickey and Minnie), local entertainers like Muggey the clown, and outfits for the Shiners for parades.
Gladys retired from IBM where she worked mainly in the cafeteria. This is where is met her long-term friends, Leo and Linda. They traveled in their RV for years across the US.
She is survived by her three daughters: Janet Perry (Joann Hmura) in Durham, Phyllis Perry Page (Royce) in Idaho, and Sherri Perry Decker (Eric) in Apex. She had four grandchildren: Amanda Decker (Lacey Carpenter) in Dunn, Aaron Decker of the home, Kaylee Page (Cody Morrow) in Idaho, and Jackson Page of Idaho; and one great-grandchild: Walker Page Morrow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and by all of her brothers and sisters within her immediate family.
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024 at Markham Memorial Gardens at 4826 Trenton Road in Chapel Hill, NC.
