He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Campbell, and son Chris, and sister, Karen and Norm Montgomery. He is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Fred (Ted) Campbell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a longtime friend, Dave Onofrio, and his daily Dunkin Donut coffee friends.
He was a retiree of IBM and a member of the quarter century club. After retirement he was involved in an antique business and worked at Windsor Point in Fuquay Varina. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and actively involved with homeless veterans. He loved collecting antiques and NC pottery. He also enjoyed the lake and feeding the ducks and geese. He was an avid gardener and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, and past Grand Knight in Cary. The neighborhood enjoyed his many Christmas lights and decorations.
We really appreciate the doctors and nursing staff at WakeMed in Cary. They did a wonderful job seeing to his needs and providing a loving and caring environment.
Fred will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
The family will receive friends 9-10:30am Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Church Hall, SE corner of S. Ellis Ave and W. Cumberland St., Dunn, NC. A traditional Funeral Mass will follow at 11am at the Sacred Heart Church, Dunn, NC. A private entombment will be held at Raleigh Memorial Park.
