Esther Jordan Perry

Esther Jordan Perry, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on December 17, 2023, in Raleigh, North Carolina, at the age of 87. Esther was born on August 12, 1936, in Chowan County, North Carolina, to Charles J. Jordan and Esther Winslow. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, James Oliver Perry, Jr (Jim), her father Charles J. Jordan, her mother Esther Winslow, her sister Sybil Jones, her brother Buddy Jordan, her nephews Sonny and Jerry Jones. She was also preceded in death by her sister-in-law and husband, Louis and Estelle Wesley of Arlington, VA.

Esther is survived by her loving children: Rhonda Perry of Cary, NC, Jay Perry of Apex, NC, and Janell Varney (Craig Varney) of Apex, NC. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Olivia Varney and Liam Varney. Esther's niece, Jeanette Privott, of Edenton, NC, her great nieces and nephews, Teresa, Sheila, Paula, Mike, Jason and Jerry Wallace (Wally) also mourn her loss along with their children.

Esther was a vibrant and energetic woman who loved her husband, family, friends, and life. She was a devout Christian and found solace and strength in her faith. Esther worshiped at Cary Alliance Church in Cary, NC, where she had many loving and supportive friends.

After graduating from Edenton High School, Esther embarked on a successful career. She began working for the FBI in Washington, DC. Esther and James married shortly after and lived in Edenton, NC and started their family. They moved to Williamston, NC and then Cary, NC. Later, she joined her husband in the family's life insurance business. Esther dedicated herself to her clients, whom she cherished deeply. After her husband's passing, she managed the business for twenty-one years, providing compassionate assistance to all those she served.

Esther loved her caregivers Leisa, Eve, the Hospice team and Leonora (who always made her laugh). The family would like to thank each and every one.

Esther will be deeply missed by all who had the honor and joy of knowing her. Her vibrant spirit and love for her family and friends will forever be remembered. May she rest in eternal peace.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Apex Funeral Home. The family will receive friends during the reception to follow.
