Funeral services for Sam Hobbs Ledbetter, 84, of Anniston will be 2:00 pm Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Parker Memorial Baptist Church with Rev's. Mack Amis and James Cohorn officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Hill Memorial Park in Talladega. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 at the church. Sam passed away Saturday, September 28, 2019 at his residence.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Jane C. Ledbetter, daughter Rhonda McCarty (John), son John Thomas Ledbetter (Teresa), four sisters Zoza Harman (Ron), Mary Heare (Garland), Joy Baumgarten (Norman), Sarah Gunter (Ronnie), one brother Palmer Lewis Ledbetter (Gwen), four grandchildren Kevin McCarty (Rachael), Nicholas Ledbetter, Savannah Ledbetter, Katherine Grace Ledbetter, four great grandchildren Robin McCarty, Norah McCarty, Silas McCarty, Micah McCarty and several nieces and nephews.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Lois Ledbetter, a brother Luther Patrick Ledbetter and a granddaughter Krista McCarty.
Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Parker Memorial Baptist Church and Men's Sunday School Class.
Sam was a native of Talladega County and a resident of Calhoun County. He graduated Munford High School and Gadsden Technical College. He was a veteran in the US Army and a member of Parker Memorial Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He retired from Monsanto after 30 years and enjoyed gardening and fishing. He will be missed by all who knew him.
