Michael is survived by his wife, Judith L. Bridges, his mother, Jeanette H. Bridges, his sisters, Patricia Ellen Bridges and Pamela Sue Coston, four grandchildren, Ashlan, Ella, Elise and Ty Minor, his niece, Lynsey R. Coston-Haynie, his great nephew, Eli Haynie, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elisha (“Ike”) Bridges, Jr., and his grandparents, Robert and Luna Hanson and Elisha M. and Violet Bridges.
Michael was born in Key West, Florida and grew up in Anniston, Alabama, Long Beach, California , Virginia Beach, Virginia and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He graduated from W. T. Samson High School in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in 1973. In 1976, he graduated from Harry Mayers State Technical College where he was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Vocational Technical Schools in recognition of his outstanding merit and accomplishments. He was employed by the Calhoun County Board of Education for 33 years where he was the Supervisor of Maintenance.
Michael returned to Jacksonville from Marietta, Georgia in 2019 where he resided with Judith until his death. He was an excellent golfer, voracious reader and a big fan of University of Alabama football. He loved to sit on his deck and watch the many deer and wild turkeys who came to feed at the back of his yard. He was greatly loved by his family and will be missed more than words can say.
