Graveside services for Mrs. Margaret Ruie Gill Ivey "Peggy", age 73, of Ohatchee, Alabama will be Friday, October 11th, 2024, 2:00 p.m., at Maple Grove. The family will have visitation 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Mrs. Ivey passed away on Monday, October 7, 2024.
Peggy and Curtis raised five children between them; Ardyn who resides in Georgia, Brandy(Autumn) of Anniston, Tony Ivey of Anniston, Stanley Ivey of Hokes Bluff, and Christina "Tina" Denton of Sylacauga. She is also survived by her sister, Jane.
Peggy is preceded in death by her parents Jess & Elizabeth Gill; her brothers Paul Gill, Jim Gill, John Gill, Pat Gill; sisters, Betty Gill and Rubie Gill.
Born in Chester, West Virginia, Peggy graduated from Oak Glen High School and joined the United States Army a few years later where she served 2 years working with NATO Communication. Returning to the U.S.A., Peggy worked in communication at Fort McClellan in Anniston, AL. When the Fort closed in 1999, Peggy went back to college and got her RN license and retired from RMC hospital. In 1983 Peggy met the love of her life, Curtis G. Ivey and had 40 blissful years together. Peggy passed away after suffering two strokes. She will surely be missed by all who knew her.
