Lincoln – Funeral service for M.C. “Top” Parton, 87, of Lincoln will be 11:00 am, Thursday, July 17, 2014 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home with “Minister” officiating. Burial will follow at Vinson Cemetery. The family will receive friends, 6:00–8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Parton passed away Monday, July 14, 2014 at Col. Robert L. Howard State Veterans Home.
Mr. Parton is survived by his daughters, Janis Sanders, Sharon (Ellis) Brock, Judy (Phillip) Hill; son, Curtis (Beverly) Parton; grandchildren, Shawn Hill, Seth Hill, Randall (Tracy) Sanders, Brent Sanders and Shellie Parton Reages; great-grandchildren, Shelby Sanders, Raegan Sanders, Riley McClain and Kaylie McClain; great-great-grandchild, Baila Sanders; brothers, Leldon (Nobie) Parton, Norris Parton, Robert (Becky) Parton; sister, Louise (Grady) Reaves; dear friend, Myrtice Haynes and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be deacons of Union Grove Methodist Church.
Mr. Parton was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Cobb Parton and his parents, Kemper and Alma Parton; son-in-law, Vernon Sanders and sister-in-law, Juanita Parton.
Mr. Parton was a Member and deacon of Union Grove Methodist Church. He was a WWII veteran serving in Germany as a guard at Nuremberg Prison. He worked as an electrician at both Alabama Water & Pipe and M & H Valve. He was an avid Alabama fan who had a great since of humor and was known for his smile.
