James Richard Chappell

Richard is survived by daughters Debbie Fancher, Donna Hughes (Barry), and Gayle Bowman (Tim); grandchildren Michael Hughes, Shanon Feazell, Rusty Hughes, Buddy Hughes, April Lallo (Tony), Jacob Smith (Kaitlyn), William Smith (Kaitlyn), sister-in-laws Ruth Chappell Whisanant, Nakita Chappell and Sherry Chappell, eight great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Richard was preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Chappell; daughter Eva Margarette Chappell; parents William and Eva Chappell; brothers William Harvey Chappell Jr., William Earl Chappell, Billy Chappell; sister Betty Jean Harris; brothers Jimmy Lewis Chappell, Tommy Chappell, Jerry Wayne Chappell, Charles Ray Chappell; in laws John Hosie and Sara Dolly Sparks.

Funeral services for Richard will be Friday, April 9, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Gray Brown Service Mortuary with Rev. John Sparks officiating. Burial will follow at Dogwood Trail Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Michael Hughes, Buddy Hughes Jr., Jacob Smith, William Smith, Gary Sparks, Tim Bowman and Buddy Hughes Sr..

Richard was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and was a member of Coldwater Methodist Church for over 60 years. He served in the United States Air Force and worked at Adelaide Cotton Mill. He was a proud papa and loved Alabama Football "ROLL TIDE". Special thanks to his caregiver Tracie Coggins, Amedysis Home Health, Anniston Fire and Rescue, Riverview ER Department, UAB NICU and Palative Care.
